Small batch, Single cask Syrah slept for a solid 34 months - a first for the beloved Hans Estate! Sultry, Smokey & Spicey. She is not one to be missed.
The 2021 vintage was a record-shattering year with extreme heat and drought conditions, as well as smoke from wildfires. The season started with an early bud break and a heat dome that caused temperatures to reach nearly 50 degrees Celsius in June and July. The summer was very dry and irrigation was crucial to prevent water stress. The harvest was early and fast, with lower yields but higher concentrations of flavours. The wines showed intense aromas, rich colours, ripe tannins and balanced acidity. The 2021 vintage was very challenging but rewarding for BC winemakers and grapegrowers who had to cope with unprecedented weather events.
