Taste
This Chardonnay from Mama D Vineyard has character, weight and acidity. It spent 14 months in neutral oak, developing aromas of buttered biscuits and pineapple, and flavours of candied green apple and butterscotch. It pairs well with white fish, creamy or pesto pasta, chicken, vegetables and mild cheeses.
Vineyard
Mama D Vineyard is a hidden gem in the desert-like landscape of Osoyoos, British Columbia. This 20-acre estate grows four varietals: Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Roussanne. Planted on a south-east facing slope, the vines receive moderate exposure to the intense desert sun, but also bene t from cooler evenings that preserve acidity and freshness. Sandy and gravelly soil, with ribbons of mineral deposits, adds complexity and character to the wines. Located in one of the warmest regions in Canada, the vineyard has
an average of 1,551 growing degree days, which allows for optimal ripening of red grapes. The vineyard also employs regulated deficit irrigation, a method of applying controlled amounts of stress to the vine by limiting water availability, to reduce berry size and improve quality. The wines are expressive, balanced and elegant, reflecting the terroir and the passion of Mama D and her family.
